Every one of the 187 producers Cruxvine scores, scored for 2020. The 2020 median is 79 against 87 across 2015–2024. That is 8 points below the 87 median of 2019. Every one of the 187 scored 2020 below its own ten-year average — there is no producer in the appellation that this vintage did not cost.
2020 carries smoke exposure from the August Complex fires. Cruxvine scores bottles that were released, not intentions: a producer who declassified a smoke-affected lot is scored on what it did release, and a producer who bottled through it is scored on that.

Verrone Vista, at 92 for 2020. Its ten-year average is 96.3, so 2020 was worse for this producer than its own record. Cruxvine scores every producer in the appellation every year, so the comparison is like for like.
Measurably. The 2020 median across the 187 producers Cruxvine scores is 79, the lowest of the 2015–2024 vintages on record here and 11 points below 2018 and 10 below 2021. 187 producers scored 2020 below their own ten-year average — which is every producer in the appellation.
