Cruxvine / Who pays us

Everyone who pays us.

There are 3 of them. That number is small because we launched this year, and we would rather publish a short honest list than imply a long one. Paying changes nothing about a score — tasters cannot see billing status, and the two datasets have no join path.

What money cannot buy here

In plain terms
Not the score

Scores come from blind pours logged against a producer ID. The billing table is in a separate schema and is not exposed to the scoring tools.

Not the rank

There is no featured tier and no promoted slot in the flight. The order is the order.

Not removal

We do not take money to remove or soften a review. We have declined twice; both producers are still in the index.

Not the verdict

Customers see their review at the same time as everyone else — when it publishes.

Questions

Answered from the scored record

Does Cruxvine take money from wineries?

Yes. 3 of the 187 producers scored pay $149 a month for a claimed listing, and all 3 are named here with their scores: Hemsley Trail (89), Boye Grove (86), Steelhead Bench (84). None is in the top ten. A claimed listing buys the ability to correct factual details; it buys nothing in a review.

How do you know a paid listing did not change a score?

Because the scores are published next to the payments. The paying producers score 89, 86, 84 against a Paso Robles median of 85 — if money moved scores, the customer list would be the leaderboard.
